With the music industry sounding more and more watered down, it seems as if true music fans are starting to listen to artists with their own sense of individuality. With artists like The Cool Kids making noise with their 2008 underground hit "Black Mags" and Cleveland native Kid Cudi signing with Kanye West label, GOOD music, it makes me wonder if record sales will ever get better due to artists like these releasing free internet mixtapes and free music to the public. Guess we'll have to wait & see, but in the meantime here are a couple of artists that I feel will make a big (or bigger) name for themselves in 2009.....
DMV's own Wale... Best known for his single "Nike Boots" and his mixtape called "The Mixtape About Nothing"
1/2 Chicago+1/2 Detroit=The Cool Kids.. Best known for their underground track "Black Mags" & their latest video Delivery Man
Cleveland's own Charles Hamilton.. Known for his
latest New York anthem
"Brooklyn Girls"(even though he's from Ohio)
Another Cleveland native, Kid Cudi... has recently inked a label deal with Kanye West
& has the single Day N' Night whcich has quite a few remixs so far
Atlanta's own Hollyweerd... They dont' have a video out yet, but have 2 mixtapes to their name and have been making a buzz around Altanta's Boutiques like Standard
Philadelphia's own Asher Roth.. best known for his song "I Love College"
delivery man is an excellent, hilarious track
